Summer Academy

This summer, Classroom Culture is delighted to introduce a Virtual Summer Academy showcasing programs in creative writing, reading, STEM, and math. We welcome elementary, middle school and high school students to participate in a virtual program designed to inspire and engage young minds.


Meet your instructors


Dr. Meredith Alaina, Ed.D, the Creative Writing Instructor for the Summer Academy, brings a wealth of experience in creative writing and teaching. She inspires students to unleash their imagination through storytelling, guiding them to develop their unique voice and craft compelling narratives. Meredith fosters a love for writing, empowering students to confidently share their stories using innovative strategies.

Dr. Damali,PhD the Math instructor for the summer academy, is deeply passionate about numbers and problem-solving. With a decade of experience, she is dedicated to making math both engaging and accessible to her students. Utilizing innovative teaching methods, she aims to help students not only understand but also appreciate the beauty of mathematics.

Dr. Shana, PhD graduate from the University of Mississippi, brings over two decades of education experience. Specializing in Gifted Education, ELA, SEL, and more, she is dedicated to evidence-based practices for emotional, social, and academic growth. LaShana is a lifelong learner and expert in curriculum, instruction, and classroom engagement, having served as a coach, coordinator, and consultant in various educational settings.

Jasmine, the Reading Instructor for the summer academy, is a devoted teacher specializing in reading and literacy. She is committed to instilling a passion for reading in her students and enhancing their literacy skills. Through personalized instruction and interactive learning activities, Jasmine creates a supportive environment where every student can excel.

Dr. Geriel, PhD the STEM Instructor for the summer academy has over 20 years of experience in STEM education, mentoring students from K-12 to post-doctoral levels. She is an advocate for STEM, offering professional development and fostering critical thinking. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and hiking with her husband, family, and poodle, Apollo.

CREATIVE WRITING - 6th - 8th grades

This summer, Classroom Culture will turn your child into a published author! Register for our creative writing summer workshop, where students will work through the steps of developing a story, being creative, revising, publishing, and marketing their own book! This summer workshop will fine-tune writing skills and grammar practice. We can’t wait to see what the students create!

READING - 5th -8th grades

This summer, our reading program seeks to provide elementary and middle school students with a distinctive approach to enhancing their reading abilities. Our objective is to prevent any loss of learning and lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of reading.

 

S.T.E.M - 6th -12th grades

During our STEM Summer camp, students will explore bridge design and construction, programming, coding, and pH level testing of various household materials. Engaging in interactive, hands-on STEM challenges will encourage critical thinking, creativity, and team building, fostering problem-solving skills and innovation.

READING - 3RD -6TH grades

Embark on a literary adventure with our Summer Reading Academy! Students will dive into captivating stories, engage in interactive reading sessions, and develop critical thinking skills. Our program is designed to inspire a love for reading and enhance comprehension abilities. Don't miss this opportunity to unlock the joys of literature in a fun and supportive environment!

MATH - Middle + High School

This pre-algebra curriculum aims to cover fundamental concepts such as expressions, equations, inequalities involving integers, and basic operations with fractions and decimals. The schedule includes a mix of theoretical learning, hands-on activities, and real-world problem-solving to engage students and reinforce their understanding. Adjustments will be made based on the student's progress and needs.
